German media reports that Barack Obama's advance team has made inquiries about appearing in Berlin during the last weekend of the month, or July 26-27. If one assumes that he's stopping in the UK first, France must be sometime in between. lire »

OpnionWay has come out with a new poll today, which among many other issues, asks the French who they think played an important role in the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt. Not surprisingly, 90% think Colombian President Alvaro Uribe was critical to the outcome. lire »

The Colombian Ministry of Defense has released the video taken by a soldier posing as a cameraman (another was a journalist) during the hostage rescue. The BBC has a version with good color and no sound, while El Tiempo has a version with crappy color but including sound. lire »
