Poll on Betancourt

©  Boz -

OpnionWay has come out with a new poll today, which among many other issues, asks the French who they think played an important role in the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt. Not surprisingly, 90% think Colombian President Alvaro Uribe was critical to the outcome. As for Nicolas Sarkozy's role, which was belittled by Segolene Royal, it appears that she may have simply been tapping into her base's own sentiments. Only 33% of her first round voters and 37% of left-wing non-Socialist voters give Sarkozy credit, while 80% of first round Sarkozy voters and 54% of Bayrou voters think Sarkozy played an important role. Unfortunately the US wasn't on the list, because those result breakdowns would be ripe for some pop psychoanalysis.
